First training unit for the officers of direct
taxes known as ‘Directorate of Training’ was established in
Karachi. |

The ‘Directorate of Training’ was shifted to
Lahore. |

1981 |
An independent building for training was hired at
15 Birdwood Road, Lahore. |

1986 |
Research of Tax related matters was made an
important component of ‘Directorate of Training’. |

1988 |
‘Directorate of Training’ was shifted to its
present site at Sutlej Block, Allama Iqbal Town, Lahore. |

1994 |
‘Directorate of Training and Research (Direct
Taxes)’ was upgraded as ‘Directorate General of Training and
Research (Direct Taxes)’. |

2001 |
DOT campus was extended by addition of one
academic and one hostel block. |
|
2007 |
A successful International conference of the
‘Association of Tax Authorities of Islamic Countries (ATAIC)’
was held at DOT. |
|
2010 |
With the formation of Inland Revenue Service (IRS),
DOT was renamed as ‘Directorate General of Training and Research
(Inland Revenue). |
